About Us: Company Background

Business

Market Assessment International (MAI) offers its clients a new kind of management consulting based on custom research designed to uncover market realities. Unlike other management consulting firms that rely on past industry knowledge, MAI uses a unique approach to discover market dynamics as they exist today and to help corporate decision makers understand and respond to customer wants and needs—as the customer defines them today.

MAI's Market Assessment Program (or MAP) is customized and timely; the results, insightful and often surprising. Conclusions derived from the MAP process, based on directed and purposeful telephone conversations with current and/or prospective customers, are presented in a findings report that provides clients with an executive perspective which reveals current market dynamics and recommends a course of action to take advantage of them.

MAI services extend into mature as well as emerging US and global markets. When appropriate, the interviews are conducted in native languages.

The People

MAI was founded in 1994 by Jean-Michel J. Gabet, Ph.D., who has more than 25 years of engineering development, marketing and management experience with major domestic and international companies. An entrepreneur with vision, Dr. Gabet offers MAI clients a unique business perspective that is also the driving force behind the creation of the company’s processes and methodologies.

MAI senior staff members are seasoned professionals from a wide range of industries. Their experience combined with the sophistication of MAI’s techniques allow them to work effectively with all clients in resolving their market demand issues and business problems.

The Methodology

Like most people, customers make decisions based on their own realities. These realities are complex, often obscure, in constant flux—and impossible to comprehend without a systematic approach.

MAI creates order out of this chaos by using proprietary tools and interviewing techniques that lead to a clear understanding of customer perceptions and motivations. The conclusions are both qualitative and quantitative and are interpreted, structured and presented so that MAI clients can understand their strategic and tactical implications and readily arrive at the most effective business practices with total confidence.

Applicability of the MAP

The MAI process is designed to tackle a wide range of business problems through its customer-centric approach. Customers can be purchasers (actual or potential), partners or employees; can reside anywhere around the world; and may, or may not, speak English. Most business problems are universal and shared by Fortune 500 companies, by startups, and by organizations in between, that rely on serving their customers to succeed.

MAI Clients

MAI’s Market Assessment Programs are designed to be especially useful to decision makers and problem solvers in companies ranging from startups to multibillion dollar organizations. Clients who have called upon MAI to help resolve complex business issues include Apple Computer, Compaq, Everdream, Extensity, IBM, Intuit, Seagate, Sun Microsystems, Tandem, VeriFone, Verity, Western Multiplex and others.
